I have reinstalled the IDE twice after completely wiping out any traces of the old one, tried Eclipse classic, tried reinstalling JDK ver.7U9 several times after uninstalling both it and the IDE but the same problem persists. Setting the open mode and context help to nearly every combination had no effect on the behavior. Latest ADK (all available API's as of yesterday) Any window of this type will kill the IDE every time and is totally reproducible. It is not the one with hints how to fix problems. It is the one that always shows some huge string in bold with nothing else in the window. I am not sure what this pop up window is called.

Whenever a pop up window of the type shown in the attached screen capture comes up the IDE will crash to the desktop in no more than 1 to 2 seconds- usually immediately. I am very new to Eclipse so I apologize if this is a common error but I could not find any mention of this after considerable searching. Screen capture of window type that kills IDE
